Amy O’Connor is CEO and Founder of Move the Shakers. With an eye for disruption and an ability to cut through the clutter, she leads strategy and builds campaigns that make brands and initiatives stand out from the competition to deliver results.  By leveraging a bias towards persuasion, Amy delivers the results you desire. Amy has received multiple awards for her public affairs leadership, including being named “40 Under 40” by PR Week magazine and winning the Public Affairs Council Innovation award.

Who is your favorite hero in fiction?

Darth Vader – because life is complicated.

Who is your favorite painter or composer?

Angelica Quic, a Guatemalan folk artist.

What is a hobby of yours?

Sailing and scuba diving, basically anything on top or in the water.

What is the last book read?

A dog training book!

What is your favorite quote?

“No is not safer than yes” (me). I have used this a lot to persuade executives to rethink how they engage.

What is your latest accomplishment?

Persuading CEO’s of multi-billion dollar organizations to dedicate significant funds to change their approach to DEI and cultivate talent that looks a lot more like America than their current talent pipelines.

What would you say is your chief characteristic?

Perseverance.

What makes you happy?

My dogs and foster dogs. It’s always rewarding to see a scared and fearful dog blossom into a loving creature. We all have the capacity to learn to love more.
